The IT Department has supplied each school site with at least one wireless scanner. In case your site is interested in purchasing extra scanners, Follett does offer a less expensive wired scanner which is also 1D/2D barcode compatible.

Out of the box, your scanner may not recognize 2D barcodes, such as Data Matrix barcodes. In case this happens to you, we wanted to save you time and provide the information here.

To turn on the Data Matrix function for these scanners, see the page numbers below that correspond to your scanner model and scan the barcode titled “Data Matrix On/Off”.

So for the wireless scanner that you received from the I.T department, you will use the QuickScanManual.pdf below.

Enable Data Matrix Barcodes - (click the PDFs below)

QuickScanManual.pdf - for the wireless scanner page 220 (actual document page 202)

EasyScanManual.pdf: - for the wired scanner page 170 (actual document page 154)

*Note - For the EasyScanManual (WIRED SCANNER), please use the pic attached instead (see Data Matrix Fix pic).

The Honeywell Manufacture EasyScanManual.pdf has a typo. You will notice that the barcode text for the Data Matrix “ON'' function matches the “OFF” function. Therefore, the correct barcode for the ON function needs to end with a “1”. So they basically printed two of the same “Off” barcode functions.

Optional 2D Barcode Functions - (QR Codes)

There are other helpful 2D barcode functions that you can enable for both of these scanners. For example, I use QR codes for my chromebook inventory and it's nice to be able to scan both types of barcodes. If interested,  you can use page 216 (actual document page 198).
